Sun Chips And National Geographic Green Effect

Sun Chips And National Geographic Green Effect

Posted on 29. May, 2009 by Trish in Giveaways & Reviews

Do you have an idea to make your community greener, but don’t have the money to do so?  Well Sun Chips and National Geographic have joined forces to give away 5 $20,000 grants to groups or people who have compelling ideas for green change.greeneffect

All you have to do is submit your Green Effect idea at www.greeneffect.com before June 8th.  Online voters will choose one winner from a group of ten finalists, and the other four will be chosen by a panel of judges.

Sun Chips and National Geographic believe that one person can make the planet greener, better, and happier.  They believe in the power of the Green Effect.

If each one of us takes one small step to make our community greener, we can create big change for our planet.

Sun Chips is trying to do their part by changing their packaging.  Right now their bags are made with 33% renewable materials.  By Earth Day of 2010, they will introduce the world’s first 100% compostable chip bag.  Here’s a short video from YouTube about it.

We love Sun Chips in this family.  In fact the two bags we were sent to try out didn’t last us very long.  In fact, one time I had some with my lunch and had the bag sitting on the ground.  My daughter came over and picked up the bag and started eating them.  I didn’t think she would like them because they were the Garden Salsa kind, which are slightly spicey.  She LOVED them!  I didn’t mind her eating them either because they are not greasy like other potato chips.

sunchip_bagI am also super excited about the reusable bag from Eco bags I was sent.  I am getting better at remembering my reusable bags when I go to stores, and this one is a nice large one to add to my collection.  I like that it is not your typical tote bag.  It pretty much forms to whatever you have in there, more like a typical plastic bag would.  Only it’s reusable!

Do you want to win a prize pack that includes Sun Chips and a bag from Eco Bags?

I try and wait until I have the most laundry that can fit in my washer so I do fewer loads and conserve water, and try and conserve energy by washing in cold water.
