Oh no! Freckles!

Oh no! Freckles!

I noticed the other day that my daughter is getting some freckles on her cheek! Eek!

frecklesTo most of you, that might not seem like a bad thing. I never thought so either. In fact, I am covered in freckles. But since going to school to become an esthetician, I know that freckles= sun damage. It means I haven’t been protecting my daughter as much as I should.

I have been a little lax on putting on sunscreen EVERY time we go outside, or even go out in the car. It seems like so much work. And it is, but it’s worth it to save my daughter’s skin. Kids get the majority of the sun exposure before they turn 18. That means that the exposure they get when they are little might not show up for 20-30 years. So when she is older and gets cancer, it can be from some of the sun she got when she was a kid.

Since my daughter is a redhead, and her dad has a mutated gene (that is passed on genetically) that causes him to be more prone to cancer, we are super careful with her, since she most likely has that gene too.

I know I am not the only one out there concerned with my kid’s sun exposure. In fact, Skin MD Natural is polling moms across the U.S. to find out what concerns you most about skin care in summer. Then they’ll put these questions to some of the most respected dermatologists in Los Angeles and let you have their answers.

Guess who gets to be the one to ask your questions to those dermatologists? :D

Yup, me! How cool is that? Now, what I need you to do is go take a super easy survey about your kids summer skin care. It is only 6 questions and will only take you a few minutes. skinmd

Make sure you tell them you heard about it from me, Trisha from Sweet ‘n’ Sassy Girls.  If you do this, you will be entered into a drawing from everyone who was referred by me to win 2 bottles of Skin MD Natural.  One of the regular, and one of the SPF.

Let me say that I am a huge fan of this stuff.  I am still using mine daily.  If you want more information on it, be sure to read my review from a while back on the Skin MD Natural products.

You can also request a sample to try out as well.  So please, go help all of us out, and take the survey!

hello :) i certainly agree with you on protecting our kids skin! i too am very fair with light hair and eyes and yes, a ton of freckles. now that we are all more aware of the issues of sun damage, i wear sunblock all the time. i just want to caution people from the standpoint of child development (mentally/emotionally speaking). while we need to educate our kiddos on the importance of sunscreen, we also need to be careful not to train them to be afraid to go outside, or worse yet, hate their adorable freckled faces!

  3. What an important post. This is so true and so important. I come from a very pale family of Scott-Irish and English decent. We are pale and burn quick and easy. My Grandpa is dealing with skin cancer for the umptenth time right now, found on his nose. So, that is awesome that you are protecting her early.*
