A little while ago I wrote a post about how I was disappointed in Singer because my motor went bad on my Singer Confidence 7470 Sewing machine after only having it for one year. Well, after that post, I was contacted by Kate who works for Singer and she offered to have Singer fix the machine [...]

I’m Still Alive

I know I kind of up and disappeared for a while, but don’t worry, nothing serious has happened, I’m not going through hard times, things are all ok here. Well, I guess something serious has happened, and I have been going through hard times, but nothing that won’t be solved by July 25th.   Let [...]

Tragic Loss

I haven’t been online much lately as I am trying to do a mad dash to get ready for Christmas.  So this morning when I signed into a mom blogging community I was shocked to learned that a fellow member, Shellie from Blog 4 Mom, had lost her 2 year old son when he fell [...]

Summertime Fun

It seems like summer time is a hard time to keep up with the blog.  We are always outside or off having an adventure.

Yesterday we went to the zoo.  It was my first time going to the one here.  Today it’s not even noon and we’ve already been outside playing for a little while.  I am working on a garden, so I was out there planting some vegetables.veggies

I’ve never really done a garden, so we’ll see what happens.  I’ve been somewhat successful growing some flowers in past years, so this year I ventured out and decided to try some actual food.  My neighbors gave us some carrot seeds, so I planted those a little while ago.  Today I just planted some spinach, some lettuce, a zucchini plant, and I’m going to try to get some peppers planted later on today too.   Ooh, and I forgot that my neighbors gave us a tomato plant too.

I’m hoping that some of this will grow for us this year.  I might venture out and go with some more vegetables next year if this works out.

Have you ever grown a garden?  How did it work out for you?

  • We’ve tried tomatoes both in Connecticut (got 1 cherry tomato) and in Florida, where we live now (cannot grow a single one). We do have a lemon tree in back near our garage that we planted when it was 12 inches tall. It took 3 years to reach any type of respectable size then the next year we got 1 lemon, and we thought oh, no here we go again (that was last year). It was really good. This year we have tons, and we are soooo excited!!!!

It’s really hard to have a garden here because of the weather, the heat, then draught, then the rainy season – we haven’t figured it out. Oh, yea, I have basil on my windowsil too.

Where is your garden at? In the front or back? That will be so nice to have your own fresh vegetables. We are generally outside quite a bit too, but are trying to recoup from a week long vacation :)

It’s out front. We have a massive flower bed out there compared to others. I figured I’d take advantage of the space and see what happens!
