10 Things I Learned From Being Around My Family
Posted on Aug 04 in Family Lifeby TrishPrint
This past week was my grandparent’s 60th wedding anniversary. All 9 of their kids got together and we had a family reunion. I was unable to go to part of it, since it was camping and I did not feel good at all, thanks to my painful ovulation. Then on Sunday we got together with several of my husband’s siblings for a baby blessing. I’ve spent a lot of time around family this past week and thought I’d share 10 things I learned or realized from being around them.
- Siblings and grandparents WANT to watch their only niece/grandkid. So let them! It’s nice to have a break and they get to spend much needed time around those who don’t see them very often.
- Little brothers grow up. I can no longer sit on my brother and tickle him. Instead he picks me up throws me over his shoulder or pins me to the ground. So not fair!
- Grandma’s like to spoil their granddaughter, and sometimes that means I get spoiled too.
- With some people, no matter how long it’s been since you’ve last seen each other/talked with each other, you can pick up right where you left off.
- Sometimes your extended family can feel like complete strangers.
- If you try hard enough, you can get your mom to play Wii sports. It’s even better when she actually enjoys it and can beat the trash out of your little brother (the same one that grew too big for tickles)
- If you want a good laugh, watch your two younger brothers play the Wii boxing for the first time. They will look so hilarious you will be on the floor rolling with laughter.
- Moms like to work when they come to visit, so be sure you let them.
- Little kids are always cute when they try to hug each other. Especially when they both fall over in the process and when they have never met before.
- A family tree might be full of nuts, but it’s always fun to get together at times.

there is a lot to be learned by watching the older too….should make us realize what we ought to be doing instead of what we are.
