Let me introduce you to an amazing company, Bake Me a Wish!bmaw-logo-153x173

Bake Me a Wish! is the premium nationwide service for delivery of gourmet birthday cakes. Our cakes are made with only the finest, freshest ingredients by an award-winning family run New York bakery that also supplies pastries to some of Manhattan’s most elite restaurants.

Five percent of your order goes towards sending gourmet occasion cakes to soldier’s overseas.  Plus they have the Freedom cake you can purchase, where one cake goes to your recipient here, and one will be sent to a solidier overseas in the name of your recipient.

I think this is a great thing for a company to be doing.  Our soldiers overseas are fighting for our freedoms and are often forgotten.  What a great surprise for a soldier to get one of these cakes on their birthday when they are far away from all their friends and family.

I was recently sent the Triple Chocolate Brownie Cake to try out, and oh my.  First off it arrived packaged with an ice pack and it was still nice and cold.  Even in the middle of summer.  It showed up, but I didn’t get a chance to dig in for a few days.  I was afraid it might be stale from sitting in the fridge for that long, but it was not.  It was still nice and moist and  fresh.

Now, I am not a big fan of chocolate cake.  I love chocolate candy and such, but chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, anything else chocolate, I’m not a big fan of.  But this chocolate brownie cake was delicious.  It was chewy and moist and quite dense, just like a brownie should be.  Now, if a non-chocolate lover thought a triple chocolate cake was good, imagine what a chocolate lover would think.  I gave my two year old daughter a bite and she kept asking for more.  After every bite she would say, “Mmmm, yummy!”  They definitely got her approval!

This full sized cake lasted our family of 3 about a week.  It was plenty big enough for a larger gathering.  In fact one of my friend’s had a party and she had one of these cakes there, and there were probably about 10-15 people there and I don’t even think it was halfway gone.  Granted she had a lot of food there and not everyone had some, but it would have easily fed everyone there.

I think this is a great idea for people who live away from their loved ones.  Think of kids in college coming home to a nice cake on their birthday.  Mom and Dad just have to go online, order the cake, and it will be sent right to them.  There are tons of different flavors, it would be hard to choose just one.
