A little while ago I wrote a post about how I was disappointed in Singer because my motor went bad on my Singer Confidence 7470 Sewing machine after only having it for one year. Well, after that post, I was contacted by Kate who works for Singer and she offered to have Singer fix the machine [...]

Well, I guess something serious has happened, and I have been going through hard times, but nothing that won’t be solved by July 25th.   Let [...]

Tragic Loss

I haven’t been online much lately as I am trying to do a mad dash to get ready for Christmas.  So this morning when I signed into a mom blogging community I was shocked to learned that a fellow member, Shellie from Blog 4 Mom, had lost her 2 year old son when he fell [...]

Old Favorites Still Available!

My mom has been giving me a lot of her old kids things, including tapes and movies.  Most of it has been stuff for my daughter that I remember my younger siblings loving.

sillyvilleFor example, we have a lot of the Wee Sing movies.  However, our collection seems to be missing one of my favorite, Wee Sing in Sillyville.  I decided to see if it was still available to buy, and guess what?  I found it on DVD!  This is so much better than those old worn out VHS movies we now have.  Most of them won’t even play on our new TV.

My daughter has loved watching these fun, musical tapes over and over.  I think she would LOVE Sillyville, and I think I know what she is getting for Christmas!  Her other favorites from this series are Wee Sing:Grandpa’s Magical Toys, and In The Big Rock Candy Mountain.  She has learned so many of the songs already, and they all teach good values too, which is important to me.  They can be a little cheesy at times (they are from the late 80’s/early 90’s) but honestly they don’t bug me at all like some other kids shows do.lullaby

The other thing I was excited to find was a CD version of Lullaby Magic.  I remember playing this tape over and over for my younger siblings.  It is great for bedtime.  I pulled it out the other day instead of our usual instrumental lullaby CD, and my daughter LOVED it!  She was throwing a fit, and instantly quieted when she heard this music.  I could hear her singing along later on too.  Last night I went in and rocked her for a minute and sang her one of the songs.  As soon as the first song was over, she immediately sat up and started signing and asking for more.  When the second song came on she laid down again and was quiet.  Considering that the tape we have was recorded over for about the first 30 seconds by my younger siblings, I’d love to get this CD.  Don’t let the cover scare you!  It was made in the 80s, but is still a classic!

I even found that Joanie Barton makes other tapes as well, and even has a Lullaby Magic 2.  I’ve never really known about her other CDs, but I can vouch that her lullabys are so nice.  They are so relaxing and don’t get boring after a while.

I am so excited that these old favorites are still around!  I thought I’d have to be looking on ebay for used copies of VHS movies or old tapes.  I love that I can buy them in DVD and CD format now!
