Starting a Detox

Starting a Detox

Posted on 07. Aug, 2009 by Trish in Trisha

When I was in esthetics school I learned about a company called M’Lis that is all about the health of your body.  I fell in love with them.  One big part of their program is having a healthy colon and getting that involves a detox.

detoxNow I was skeptical of it, but I decided to try it.  Basically for 2 days you eliminate refined sugar, refined flour, dairy, and meat.  Then the next 3 days you don’t eat anything, but you drink plenty of water and a mixture of lemon juice, maple syrup and water.  Then you slowly begin to add things back into your diet after those 3 days.

I didn’t think I could do the three days without eating.  But it wasn’t really that hard.  If I started getting hungry I would sip some of the lemon mixture (it actually tastes like lemonade) and I would be fine.  I cannot tell you how much better I feel after a detox.  I have so much more energy, I’ve lost a lot of extra weight due to the waste in my colon, and I just feel better in general.

I’ve wanted to do a detox for a while now, but I just haven’t been able to get back up to my old school to buy the kit.  I finally decided I need to do it, and I headed up there this morning.  I stopped by Costco on the way back and picked up the maple syrup.  Their lemons were really expensive, so I’m going to stop by Walmart and buy some from them either today or tomorrow.   But today I will eliminate those things from my diet.  That means reading labels.  You have no idea how many items have hidden sugar or flour.  It’s been a while since I last did a detox, so I’m excited.  I’ll let you know how it goes!

Yes Kim, there are 3 supplements that I take to help the cleanse go faster. I know many people do it with lemon juice maple syrup and cayenne pepper, but that takes 30 days. I’d rather take the supplements and do it in 5 days total.

You’ll have to let me know how it goes! I’d love to do one, but I’m not sure I would have the will power…

That’s what I thought too the first time I did one. It’s been easier every time, and sooo worth it!
