Playskool Clipo Hippo Review
Posted on 18. Sep, 2009 by Trish in Review
I was recently given the Playskool Clipo Hippo to review, and I can tell you that it was a hit around my house. My two year old daughter had so much fun playing with it. She didn’t quite get the concept of building with the blocks, but she liked to stack them up on top of the hippo, and then knock them down.
She also really enjoyed putting the blocks back in their storage compartment or in the hippo’s mouth. In fact that was a whole game just in itself. She didn’t like it very much when mommy tried to show her how to build with the blocks while she was trying to put them away.
What it is:
Clipo Hippo from Playskool:
Roll out the hippo and encourage your little one to build all sorts of colorful creations with interlocking, peg-covered CLIPO parts. Whether it’s standing still or being rolled around, the purple hippo is filled with fun! Open the hippo’s mouth to “feed” it blocks, or just have fun adding and removing them from the storage area. Kids can attach blocks to the hippo’s back, or to its wheels. Curiosity and delight will grow as toddlers design their own creations again and again. When playtime is over, all the pieces store inside the hippo!
- There were several different activities that it could be used for such as: building with the blocks, rolling the hippo like a car, and putting the blocks in and out of the hippo.
- It comes with it’s own storage compartment! No more having to hunt down all the pieces to play with it.
What We Didn’t Like About It:
- My daughter didn’t quite get the concept of pushing the blocks together to get them to stay. She got a little frustrated when they kept coming off. I believe that this is just a skill she needs to learn over time, and it has nothing to do with the quality of the toy.

Overall I thought this was a great toy for my daughter’s age. It is very gender neutral so it would work great for a boy or a girl. The bright colors were very appealing, and it was quite entertaining, which is always a plus! We even played with it for a while when we first got it, and then put it away, and then pulled it back out a month or so later to see if she still enjoyed it, and she did. All the other kids that have been over have loved to play with it as well. I can see it being entertaining for a while for her.

Ooooh adding this Abby’s wish list. She loves building and has just recently starting understanding Mr. Potato Head so I think this would be great for her.
