Kernel Season’s Popcorn Seasonings

Kernel Season’s Popcorn Seasonings

Posted on 08. Oct, 2009 by Trish in Giveaways & Reviews

Popcorn is a HUGE staple in my family.  Seriously.  I buy a big box from Costco, and depending on our mood, we can go through that easily in a month.  Especially if we have game nights or movie nights.

Growing up we never used microwave popcorn.  We had the kernels and the popcorn machine that we would pull out every Sunday night.  Pop our own, then add melted butter and salt.  We even had our own popcorn tins that were like little bowls with handles that we could scoop our own serving of popcorn and eat out of that.  This way, no one had to fight over the popcorn bowl, or get their hands all buttery from holding the popcorn.

ksSince we love popcorn so much, I knew I had to try out Kernel Season’s Popcorn Seasonings.  We could turn our plain boring popcorn into fun flavors.  What could be better?  KS was kind enough to give me a whole goody box full of different products.  It included 6 different popcorn seasonings (Nacho Cheddar, White Cheddar, Ranch, Parmesan and Garlic, Butter, and Kettle Corn), a bag of kernels, 3 bags of microwave popcorn, and popcorn spritzer to help the seasonings stick.

The Saturday after I got the box of goodies we went over to our neighbor’s house for game night.  I took all the seasonings over so we could decide what flavor to have.  The consensus was Ranch and Nacho Cheddar.  Without a doubt, everyone was a fan.  In fact my one neighbor loved the ranch so much she even said she liked it better than ranch flavored chips.

Every week at game night we’d try some more flavors.  Out of these 6, it seemed like Nacho Cheddar, White Cheddar and Ranch were the favorite.  We liked the others too, but those were the clear favorites.

One thing I did notice about the bag of kernels is that they did pop bigger and fluffier, just like they claimed.  In the past I always figured popcorn kernels were just popcorn kernels.  I was quite surprised at the difference.

Now, these seasons are not just for popcorn.  You can use them on other foods too.  I added the Garlic Parmesan to some mashed potatoes and gave them a whole new flavor.  There is a whole list of recipes and ideas on the Kernel Season’s website to give you fun ideas of how to use them.
