Oh Happy Day!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to update my blog today, but I decided I had to share my good news with everyone. Do you remember when I was begging for comments to win an Electrolux washer and dryer from Mom Central? And how I won the set? (Yay!)
Well, after lots of paperwork and trying to sell our old set to pay for the pedestals that go with these. (Which we never did get, we just built a platform for them to sit on) They were finally delivered and installed today. I was all set to start washing some blankets, and then we hit a snag.

See that hose connected to the red valve? We couldn’t get the old hot water hose off. The people who owned the house before us left it on, because they couldn’t get it off. My husband tried to get it off, the people who bought our old set couldn’t get it off, and the guys who installed our new one couldn’t get it off. I would just connect the old one, but it won’t work.
Here is the end of the old one.
Here is the ends of the new hoses:

Grrr! I was all excited to do laundry today too! I’m not quite sure what to do now. We tried spraying some WD-40 on the old hose to see if that helps, but nothing so far. It should just screw off, but it really doesn’t want to. So, anyone have any ideas of how to get an old stuck on hose off without breaking the current valve?

Thanks everyone! We did finally get the hose off. We ended up calling our neighbor who is a plumber, and he came over. It’s probably a good thing he did too, because he basically had to take apart the whole valve and put in a new part. That hose was so corroded on there, there was no way we were going to get it off!
I have been washing all our of big blankets that have been waiting to be washed forever. I’m excited to explore them more and figure out everything they do!
