Oh Happy Day!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to update my blog today, but I decided I had to share my good news with everyone. Do you remember when I was begging for comments to win an Electrolux washer and dryer from Mom Central? And how I won the set? (Yay!)
Well, after lots of paperwork and trying to sell our old set to pay for the pedestals that go with these. (Which we never did get, we just built a platform for them to sit on) They were finally delivered and installed today. I was all set to start washing some blankets, and then we hit a snag.

See that hose connected to the red valve? We couldn’t get the old hot water hose off. The people who owned the house before us left it on, because they couldn’t get it off. My husband tried to get it off, the people who bought our old set couldn’t get it off, and the guys who installed our new one couldn’t get it off. I would just connect the old one, but it won’t work.
Here is the end of the old one.
Here is the ends of the new hoses:

Grrr! I was all excited to do laundry today too! I’m not quite sure what to do now. We tried spraying some WD-40 on the old hose to see if that helps, but nothing so far. It should just screw off, but it really doesn’t want to. So, anyone have any ideas of how to get an old stuck on hose off without breaking the current valve?

First off , Wow they are just the most beautiful thing I have seen in a long time ! You sure can tell we are moms when we get all excited over a washer and dryer ! I would love to do laundry if I had a set of those babies! As for getting the hose off I have no idea, I would use a pair of pliers but I would worry about breaking the value !

Yay you finally got them!
And I love the platform you built. Honestly I put the stuff in the drawers and it gets pulled out and sits on the floor in front of the machines so you probably aren’t missing much.

Hey did you ever get it off? If you didn’t let me know and I’ll send Clint over. He’s awesome at stuff like that.

Congratulations, my friend! I hope you get the hose off without calling a plumber.
Is it wrong to be jealous of a washer and dryer? I am DYING to be able to afford a front loader. I have down comforters and huge blankest and pillows to wash. It will cost me $20 at the laundromat to wash them there. GRRR
You really deserve this win with all you do to help everyone else out at CrackDot.
I hope you enjoy them. BTW, were you allowed to pick the color or did it have to be red?

Aw, thanks! And no, I didn’t get to pick the color. It was a red set they were giving away. But I’m ok with that! I probably would have chosen the teal, but I’m not complaining. Heck, they could have been puke green and I’d be happy!

My hubby said they make special lubricants (called Break Free or something like that) that you can get at Lowe’s and let it set on there for awhile. Then use channel lock pliers to get it off. Hope that works for you!

Thanks Melissa, we’ll have to try that!
