Tragic Loss

I haven’t been online much lately as I am trying to do a mad dash to get ready for Christmas.  So this morning when I signed into a mom blogging community I was shocked to learned that a fellow member, Shellie from Blog 4 Mom, had lost her 2 year old son when he fell [...]

Rag Quilt Sewing Project

I have wanted to make a rag quilt for my daughter for a long time.  I just really didn’t know how to do it, nor did I find any material I really enjoyed.  Well, I recently solved both those problems.

First off, I found this easy tutorial for how to make a rag quilt.

Mliss Poster 2Then I was at Hancock Fabric shopping around and found the CUTEST flannel ever for a girl.  I love that it’s not babyish.  It’s something that will grow with my daughter.  I waited for it to go on sale and bought a bunch of it, but of course they were out of some of it, but getting a new order in soon.  I’ll try to stop by again today to see if it’s in yet.

Now I just have to actually sit down and make it, after I make a couple of Halloween costumes for my daughter and my nieces.

  • I love that fabric! It’s so cool. Good luck with the quilt. I can’t wait to see it.

  • Oh I can’t wait to see the finished project . I just love the patterns , very very pretty! My mother in law made 2 of my girls rag quilts. They are no 19 and 16 years old , and still going strong ! Hope you had a great weekend!

My sewing machine isn’t working right now. I like that fabric, too. It’s really nice for a girl.

Thanks! Of course they didn’t have the one I really wanted, and after a ton of hassle, they are ordering it in for me, but it won’t be in for about 2 weeks now.

I love rag quilts. They are so quick and easy, they make great baby gifts also. Don’t forget you don’t have to use flannel, you can also use cotton and batting. Just a FYI for next time

I cant wait to see it when your done,

Yeah, I know that. I just wanted a nice warm blanket for her and nothing really called to me. I did get some batting for this one too to make it extra warm. I love how there are so many different ways to make these!
