Tragic Loss

I haven’t been online much lately as I am trying to do a mad dash to get ready for Christmas.  So this morning when I signed into a mom blogging community I was shocked to learned that a fellow member, Shellie from Blog 4 Mom, had lost her 2 year old son when he fell [...]

Greg from Telling Dad

Ah Greg.  Greg is a guy I recently got to know online, and I’m glad I did.  He is the guy behind Telling Dad, and his sense of humor makes me laugh all the time. Greg is the only 6′7″ guy I know who will put on a pink feather boa and do the Flirty Girl [...]

How to Make Hair Bows

My wonderful neighbor came over yesterday asking if she could borrow a hairbow for their family pictures on Sat because my hair bows “are so much cuter” than hers.

hairbows

I offered to make her one that matched the outfit she was wearing and offered to teach her how to make them too because they are so easy.  So I’ve had hairbows on my mind yesterday and today and thought I’d share some great youtube videos where I learned how to make hairbows.

This first one is a boutique style hairbow which is great for layering and making more of a poofy bow.  Super popular right now.

This next one is how to make a pinwheel bow, which is great if I want a flatter bow. I like to tie a knot and secure it on the middle for these.

I do make the pinwheels slightly different. Instead of using a needle and thread, I use the salon clip to clip it down the middle, and then use the embroidery thread to wrap around and tie like it shows in the boutique bow video. It works wonderfully! I used to try to make my bows without the salon clip, but I decided to finally buy some, and I am so glad I did! I highly recommend them.

I hope this helps some of you learn how to make bows. I love to make them to match all my daughter’s outfits, and they are so easy!
