A little while ago I wrote a post about how I was disappointed in Singer because my motor went bad on my Singer Confidence 7470 Sewing machine after only having it for one year. Well, after that post, I was contacted by Kate who works for Singer and she offered to have Singer fix the machine [...]

Well, I guess something serious has happened, and I have been going through hard times, but nothing that won’t be solved by July 25th.   Let [...]

Tragic Loss

I haven’t been online much lately as I am trying to do a mad dash to get ready for Christmas.  So this morning when I signed into a mom blogging community I was shocked to learned that a fellow member, Shellie from Blog 4 Mom, had lost her 2 year old son when he fell [...]

Lost in a Book

I love to read.  I always have.  In fact, when I was younger, my parents would punish me by taking away my books.  I have read pretty much all the books we have, and recently decided to hit up our local library to see what new things I could discover.

Our library is tiny, but it has something new.  I get tired of reading the same books over and over, so even though it’s small, the selection is better than nothing.

I have been lost in the pages of a book the past couple of days and I love it.  I haven’t felt this engaged in a long time.  I was even up until 1:30 last night reading, huddled on the floor of our bathroom so not to disturb my sleeping husband.

I’m not the type of person who can casually read.  Once I start, I want to know what happens.  I want to finish.  I started this book last week, but because of Halloween and all the preparations that I had to do for that, I didn’t really have time to get into the story.  The book is 850 pages, and I read basically all but the first 100 pages or so in the past two days.

There’s something about getting lost in a world of others and using the imagination to picture the events as they occur.  I think I’d almost forgotten that enticing of the the written word.

The best news is that this book is a series, which I didn’t know, so I can continue reading.  It’s not so much this specific book, it’s more rediscovering something I love.

Now, to start on the next book.  :D

  • I’ve never been much of a reader. I will start a book and never finish it.
Actually, I started 3 books this past month…..none of which are finished.

    :Sigh:
    Magazines on the other hand….HELLO!!!
I can tell ya what all the celebs are up to. I can!

    I need pretty pictures.

My husband is the book reader here.

I am the same way. I start a book and I can’t help myself. I devour it as quickly as I can. My husband doesn’t get it. He only reads financial and self-help books so I guess he wont ever understand the joy that comes in losing yourself in a great story.

I’m blessed that my husband is also an avid reader, so he understands when I get this way. He usually isn’t drawn in as much and can stop reading at any point, where I am the type that has to finish the chapter or get to a stopping point to end.

  • I want to know WHAT BOOK? LOL!

Lately I have been reading Dean Koontz and his Odd Thomas series.

Hehe. This particular book is Outlander by Diana Gaboldon. But I find myself getting drawn in with almost any book.

I am an avid reader as well. I was hoping you would say what type of books you like. I want to introduce you to my latest read, if you like crime thrillers.

Level 26 is a book about a forensic proof, serial killer who has been around the world, killing people. The name of the book comes from the law enforcement ratings for serials killers. Generally, serial killers are rated 1 – 25, this one, names Sqweegel, is beyond any they have ever seen, hence the level 26.

What really drew me to the book, is the author, Anthony Zuiker. He is the creator and co-producer of all the CSI’s. I knew by that alone, the book would be awesome.

That does sound interesting. I’ll have to see if the library has it. As for what types of books, I read almost anything. I’m not a fan of romance novels, and I have to be in the mood for fantasy, depending on what kind of fantasy, but I will read pretty much anything.
