Girls Day Out at the Spa
Posted on 25. May, 2010 by Trish in Blogging
A couple Saturdays ago I was invited by my friend and neighbor Tiffany from Babes and Kids to go to a local spa, Akasha, to have a girls day out sponsored by Dove.
Dove has come out with a new deodorant, the Ultimate Beauty Care Deodorant that helps your underarms feel smooth and moisturized. It’s unique formula is supposed to soothe shaving irritation, which is nice because I hate it when I shave, and then my deodorant stings. It also is supposed to help you smell clean and fresh for 24 hours. I have only used it once, but I can say that I could catch a small whiff of the scent randomly throughout the day. It was quite nice. Especially since I have found that since I have been pregnant my usual deodorant doesn’t seem up to the task of keeping me smelling fresh through the day. It is supposed to be like a small in home spa treatment you can do everyday.
I used to work at a spa back bc (before children), and I loved getting regular treatments. I had never had a pedicure before going to esthetics school, and had never had a massage either, but I was hooked. Since I stopped working a little over 3 years ago however, I haven’t had any treatment that I haven’t done myself. And that just isn’t the same.
Let me just say that my poor pregnant feet really needed that pedicure, more for the relaxation than for anything. I made sure to choose a fun bright color because this might be the last time my toes get painted before I have the baby. That’s only two months away, and that’s usually how long my pedicures last, so we’ll see. The bigger my belly gets, the harder it is to reach my toes.
The manicure was nice too, because I tend to neglect my hands. I used to paint my fingernails on a regular basis, but somewhere in my life that habit became extinct. So now I have pretty hands too.
I have to say one of my favorite parts of the treatments was the chair massages. The massage therapist was small, but man, was she strong! She worked my neck and upper back and I felt so relaxed afterwords. I just wish it would have lasted longer and was a full body massage. That would have been heaven! But, I won’t be picky. I was happy with what I got.
It was so nice to get out and be pampered. I know most moms, me included, tend to focus more on our families, and forget our own well being. I think we all need to get out and recharge our batteries so to speak. It just helps us be better parents in the long run. It was a fun group of ladies, and even though some of us had never met before, we got along great and had a lot of fun taking over the pedicure room. After wards some of us went out to dinner together and had fun shopping in Bath and Body Works. It was definitely a day out that was much appreciated! So thank you Tiffany and Dove for inviting me!

Whoa! How did you get a free girls day out? I struggle just to get people to agree to do little giveaways! That would be awesome to get a free girls day out! Could you pretty please email me and give me some pointers? I run my blog so that I can remain a stay-at-home mom so I can really use help. Thanks! That sounds really awesome.

Actually I wasn’t the one contacted about the free girls day out. It was my friend, and she invited me to go along. It takes a while to really build up good relationships with companies and pr firms, so just keep at it!
