The Power of the Sun

The Power of the Sun

I have no idea how I didn’t know this before, but did you know that the sun is an amazing stain remover?  Like that newborn poo that seems to stain everything and you can never get out?  Yeah, it works wonders on that.

Here, let me show you.

This is an insert for my son’s cloth diaper.  Yes it gets pooped on and I expect it to stain, but it proves my point very well.  This is what it looked like after being washed and dried.

Not good right?  I have clothes and blankets that also has spots on it like this.  I think everyone that has little babies has something that looks somewhat like this.  With my daughter I just kept washing and washing hoping to eventually get it out.  Some stuff I had to throw out because I never could get it out.  If only I had known that all I had to do was put it out in the sun for a few hours.

This is after being put outside in the sun for a few hours, and then sitting in a sunny spot inside for a few hours.

Ta-da!  Yes, it is the same insert.  Yay for the power of the sun!  It works on other stains too.  Don’t believe me?  Try it!  It’s free, and it works.  ;)

  2. What really works well, especially on white clothing is spraying the stain with lemon juice, putting it out in the sun, then washing it as normal. My neighbor swears by dish soap on a stain, putting it out in the sun for a few hours then washing. Stains come right out.

I have never tried just the sun by itself though. I may have to try that.
