Quiet Book
Posted on 16. Sep, 2011 by Trish in Crafts
When I was little I remember my mom having a fabric book for us to play with at church. We had to pick the apples off the tree, and braid the girl’s hair. Basically it was a book of quiet activities for us to play to keep us quiet.
I decided long ago that I wanted to do one for my daughter, and even started working on a few pages. Nothing ever really came of it though. Then last year for Christmas my sister said she wanted one too, and that hasn’t happened yet either.
So recently I decided I really needed to get going on it. I hosting a swap on a forum where everyone made 12 pages, kept one, and then sent the others in. Then I divided all the pages up and sent them back. For every spot they signed up for, they got 11 pages back.
It was an awesome swap, and a lot of cool pages were done. Now I actually have to put the pages all together and get a book finished!
These were the three pages I made.
The top of the egg is on a brad so it hinges and you can open it and pull the chick out. Then the cars are attached and you can drive them across the page. The last is a flower pot where the flowers come unbuttoned.
Maybe I’ll have it done in time for Christmas this year!

Actually, just out of curiosity, what size are the pages?

Here’s a great blog that has lots of ideas and good instructions. http://quietbook.blogspot.com/ I did the same size she recommends, but I can’t remember what it is off the top of my head!

I love this idea!! Think I’m going to try it! Now I just have to get creative and think of the pages I want to do!
